Ājñā cakra is the gateway to the subtlest experiences of meditation and represents a higher level of mental awareness. The three main nāḍīs: iḍā, piṅgalā and suṣumnā merge together at ājñā cakra and this convergence allows energy to flow directly into sahasrāra cakra.
With a location just between the eyebrows, ājñā is associated with the element of the mind. Once accessed, this cakra acts as a control center for prāṇa and allows the yogi to directly know and see the flows of prāṇa in the body.
While navigating the journey through the cakra system, the yogi will encounter countless blockages, memories, karmic layers and emotions. In order to navigate through all of these layers, the yogi will have to practice for a long time, continuously and with gentleness, knowledge, grace and devotion. As the yogi progresses along their journey, they will gain the riches of self-knowledge and discovery that will prepare them for the powerful experiences of awakening ājñā cakra.
When nurtured and operating as fully awakened, this cakra leads to profound knowledge and insights such as:
- Original and creative thinking combined with supreme knowledge
- Intelligence is pulled from higher knowledge
- Free access to both wisdom and intuition
- The capacity to freely work for the benefit of others and the world around them,
- Knowing the realized soul – ātman
With a seed sound of oṃ and a color of purple/silver, meditating on this cakra will lead to increased self awareness and greater knowledge of our impact and influence on the world around us.
